Katie's Parent Teacher

Katie on the 1st day of school

Today was Katie's (aka Kathryn at school) parent teacher conference. I was anxious to go to this conference. Katie started 6th grade this year and 6th grade is in Middle School. I was so nervous about her starting school, I knew that it was the end of the "innocence". (I guess I remember my own 6th grade too well!) On the first day of school I was seriously wishing I would have held her back all those years ago when I made the choice to put her in kindergarten. But I didn't need to worry!

I actually think Katie has done better in 6th grade than she did in elementary school. She is learning she has to be responsible for herself, but that is good!

She had great grades and everyone of her teachers said she is a joy to have in class and is very attentive and participates well. Just what I love to hear! The only times her grades weren't A's were because she forgot to hand something in or forgot to put a name of something. She is working on this! She is going to work a little harder on her spelling and writing - things she has always had to work on. Katie is really lucky because she gets to have her Grandma Meikle as her teacher for three hours, reading, English and math. She calls her Mrs. Meikle and Mrs. Meikle calls Katie, Kathryn. :) I love it! I sometimes feel like a fly on the wall because I will hear some of the "inside" stuff that Katie would never tell me. I'm so proud of you Katie! Keep up the good work!

That is so neat that she gets to have your mom. I am so glad that she has had a good report and that school is going so well.

Good job Katie! I can't believe how grown up she is!
