Yes, I'm corrupting my kids!

Ok, I'm doing it! I am brainwashing my kids! This last Mon & Tues was UEA convention. Of course, my mom wanted to go to it so she took the girls with her to the rally against School Vouchers. (For those of you who don't live in our state or have been in a cave for the last 6 months) vouchers are a highly charged battle that will be voted on this next Tues. I have never really participated in something I have felt so strongly about. Anyway, the girls were there with all those teachers cheering and clapping, when it was over all the teachers took a sign and carried them around the Salt Palace and then stood on the steps. (During all this time I was in the car with Bevan who was asleep) Anyway, I drove up just as they were walking down the sidewalk, can you believe I started to cry?!? I didn't cry because I was so moved by them telling us to vote against Referendum 1 and I didn't cry because my kids were being "used" to hold signs. I cried because I am so grateful for the freedoms that we have. I'm glad that we can "discuss" this with other people and still be friends when we are done. When the girls saw me they were so excited because they were going to be in the newspaper. I guess the Park City newspaper interviewed them and took their picture. I wasn't able to get a "hard" copy of the newspaper but Alesa was able to find it on the web, if you want to see it you can click here - http://www.parkrecord.com/education/ci_7322976 Katie wasn't quite sure if she was suppose to be for or against the referendum but she told the reporter "I am not for sale!" I know that Katie doesn't really understand what is going on but she walked around with Doug to get the petition signed last spring so this could get put on the ballot and since then she has been obsessed with what has been going on. Hmm, maybe one day she'll be our president! (or at least the president of the PTA!) BTW, if you click on the picture it will get bigger and you can see how cute the kids are. Also, Alesa's kids are there and Aunt Holly and Grandma Meikle.
