The first 13 days are over. I worked hard and giving myself permission. It was much harder than I expected it to be. I had to be vulnerable. I had to put myself out there and open myself up to criticism and failure. Such is the journey of learning to live out loud!
For these next few days I am going to be working on "Create a New Habit or Break an Old One"
Create a new habit or break an old one. (from tinybuddha.com)
Who has dominion over your life—you or your habits? Make it a game. How many things can you get under your control? How many bad habits can you convert? There is a great sense of empowerment when you feel you are in charge of your life. This helps you get there.
One of the things that has been very hardest for me with the struggles we've had over the past year is the loss of control that I feel. So, I'm hoping by taking back some control and practicing some self control I will get that sense of empowerment again.I used to be a big time water drinker but for the last few months (like 12ish) I've let Diet Coke w/lime become my "comfort". It helps when I have a headache, it helps when I want a treat, when I'm short on energy or just feeling bad. But it doesn't help my kidneys or my weight or the rest of my body. So, my first new habit I'm working on is drinking more water, a minimum of 64 oz/day. Day one- complete!
I'm also working on getting 5 servings of fruits and veggies. It's a little tricky with funds tight but I know that it's better to put the money into healthy foods that will help my mood, energy level and overall health.
There are a whole bunch of habits I'm thinking about working on but I don't want to overwhelm myself so we'll see what else I come up with.
