Tonight Katie came home from Tavaci (singing group) so broken hearted. Two weeks ago she tried out for some solo parts for their concert. She is in a group of kids 3rd -7th grade. There were 5 parts and 33 people tried out. Unfortunately she didn't get it. She was so sure she would. I tried to prepare her, without making her feel like I didn't believe in her. We talked a lot about how brave she was just to try out, stand out there all by herself, etc... There have been many, many tears shed tonight. So sad for her, so proud of her for even trying. So amazed by the self confidence that she has!

It is so hard to see your kids get their heart broken...you just want to cry with them. She is building her character and hopefully she won't let disappointment discourage her and just keep on trying!
I hate watching my kids get upset. I guess that is how we grow, is by feeling sorrow for something. It is just so hard to watch your children go through it.
