Remembering

Hello all, I was going to post yesterday, but I didn't get there. I went to sleep! I was asleep by about 10:15. Wow! Love it when that happens. Then it was easy to get up at 6:00. 6:00, that's a much better hour than 5:00! ;)

Yesterday, March 16th, was my Dad's birthday and my Mom & Dad's anniversary. My dad would be 60! Wow! I can hardly believe it! I guess in my mind he is stuck at 40. I think enough time has passed since his death that we are no longer sad on these kind of days. But it always bugs me for them to go unnoticed. I feel like they need to be acknowledged and the role that he played in my life and the impact he had on the world should be celebrated. Usually I try to send my mom flowers or something like that, but since it was Sunday I knew that wouldn't work. So, Travis & Juli & Mom came over for dinner. And we gave her a small gift.

What was the gift you ask? A few weeks ago I found out that the high school is trying to raise money for a new track and football field. They were taking donations and with a donation you could have a brick engraved with your name and graduating year or some other "sentiment". Well, us kids decided that we should get a brick in Dad's name. He played football, but he was actually quite the track star. He was built long and lean and was FAST. I don't remember the name of the race he ran (I'm no track person- that's for sure) but it is a hard one. One that you have to be fast but it's further than just a sprint. Hmm, I'll do some research (like ask my mom) and find out some details here. Anyway, he held a school record that was not beat until I was in High School, about 20 years. I think Mom was happy with the gift. I am happy with the gift. It will be good.
